Fourth Grade Using Google Drive

Mr. Haber's fourth grade Social Studies class has been using Google Drive throughout the year. They began using Google Presentation for an Explorer Project.

Then they started using it to complete various homework assignments that Mr. Haber shared with them. They wrote a persuasive essay in school and at home, and they will continue working in Google Drive as the rest of the year continues. All fourth graders have google accounts, but their email has been disabled.

Scratch Comes to Pingry!

Ms. Berg is teaching Scratch to students in grades 2-4 for an Enrichment class. She began during Winter Enrichment and is now continuing her class through Spring Enrichment. Students are using the Chromebooks to program.

1-D Collaborates to Make a Class Poem

1-D Students collaborated on their iPads to illustrate one of their favorite poems, Crown of the Beach.
Students were given a line to illustrate. They used Drawing Pad to illustrate their line and type the words from their line. Then they saved their image to Dropbox. The images were then imported to Book Creator and emailed to the parents.

KMS creates Their Own Movie!

KMS teachers wanted their students to be able to use the iPad to make their own video. The class had gathered facts about the life of Ezra Jack Keats and they wanted to present those facts to the parents at the Ezra Jack Keats presentation. So, we partnered the students up and let them practice their lines/facts about Ezra Jack Keat's life. In groups of four, the students used the mini iPad to film two students. The pairs, then added their clip to iMovie
and they show was put together. Good job, KMS!

Ezra Jack Keats Slideshow KMS

KMS worked with Drawing Pad

to illustrate 3-4 favorite parts of their favorite Ezra Jack Keat's book. They used the paint tools to draw a picture of their favorite part and the Typing tool to type their favorite parts and what they noticed . Then, KMS uploaded their images to DropBox
where I was able to add ALL of the images to a slideshow in Explain Everything.
Once the slideshow was in order, KMS recorded their own voices to their own images. Finally, we  uploaded it to YouTube to be shared with parents. Check it out here:

Second Grade Alaska Animal Bubbles

Alaska stations were underway in January and February for the Pingry second graders. Stations were similar to the activities completed in the beginning of the year for dinosaurs, but with some adjustments. Mrs. Baydin and Mr. Christian worked hard with the second graders on creating a mural of the three different landscapes in Alaska. Second graders then created scale models of the Alaska animal they researched, and I helped them create a video of their animal teaching passerby's interesting facts. Each student took a picture of their scale model with an iPad mini. Then, they imported the picture into an app called, ChatterPix.
ChatterPix allows you to make the mouth of an object move so that it "speaks". Check out some of the videos created by the second graders:
